Flower of Memories

Preview edition — Poet of Blossom is still in progress. The poem is as it appears in the video; the commentary is a working draft.

As we strolled in the fields with songs of our diaries

We sang so glee, under trees of cherries

In which their leaves fell, showering no worries

Now in my hand to you, a flower of our memories

With spirals of our stories, reddish of roses

To lit your day with keenness and night with sweetness

You are the finest of beauty, finessed with affection

Your love never finishes and your smiles just hit perfection

You are my motivation through life's thorns and affliction

And I'm ever ready to embrace you in your cute tears when your world is withering

As you glide gracefully through the grass, I heard the birds of colors whispering and singing of how luckier and merrier our love was written

Enjoying treats of chocolate and to love songs did we listen

I cherished this wish coming true that you are indeed my flower of memories

Commentary

This poem is a tender keepsake of shared happiness, in which the speaker gathers the sights, sounds and small pleasures of a courtship into a single “flower of memories.” Warm, rhythmic and full of rhyme, it celebrates love as something remembered, cherished and offered back to the beloved.

The poem opens on a memory of the couple strolling through fields “with songs of our diaries,” singing “under trees of cherries” whose falling leaves shower them with “no worries.” The speaker then offers the beloved “a flower of our memories,” a gift woven from their stories and “reddish of roses.”

Turning to praise, the speaker names what makes the beloved special: beauty “finessed with affection,” a love that “never finishes,” and smiles that “just hit perfection.” The beloved is the speaker’s motivation through “life’s thorns and affliction,” and the speaker promises to be ready to embrace them “in your cute tears when your world is withering.”

The closing lines return to the outdoors. As the beloved glides through the grass, the birds seem to sing of how “luckier and merrier” the couple’s love was written. They share treats of chocolate and love songs, and the speaker ends by cherishing the wish that the beloved is indeed “my flower of memories.”
