A Love To Our Amusement

The carnival lights flickered in the snowy mist,

where laughter swirled like winter’s twist.

You pulled my hand, eyes glowing bright,

a ride awaited in the frost-kissed night.

The Ferris wheel loomed, metal and tall,

coated in ice, yet calling us all.

"Let’s ride," you whispered, voice so sweet,

I replied, "Hold on tight and don’t lose your seat."

We rose through the sky, stars frozen above,

breathless, tangled in love’s spun glove.

The city below, small and blurred,

our world paused, just us, unheard.

Then, a shudder, a halt, a sway,

the wheel stopped, left us midway.

The cold wind laughed, the gears stood still,

suspended between sky and chill.

Maybe fate was giving us a time-stopping moment.

You turned to me with kissing lips.

In the thrill of passion and spark of love.

Lights flickered, the wheel spun again,

but time had slowed for us—just then.

Commentary

This poem captivates romance and atmospheric tension, weaving together themes of love, fate, and fleeting moments. Here’s a deeper analysis.

The poem depicts a tender encounter between two lovers on a cold winter night at a carnival. As the Ferris wheel carries them skyward, their surroundings blur, immersing them in the intimacy of their connection. Suddenly, the ride halts, suspending them between sky and earth. The cold wind seems to taunt them, yet this unforeseen pause becomes a gift—an opportunity for a frozen moment where love eclipses time. Their passion ignites, and as they share a kiss, the Ferris wheel resumes its spin, but that stolen second lingers in their hearts as something eternal.
