Draft in the author’s style. This poem was written for Poet in Wonderland to sit beside the author’s own readings, and is waiting for the author’s review. The commentary is a working draft too.

When it rains in Wonderland, the drops are made of tea,
And the puddles are of lemonade, as sweet as they can be.
The clouds are cotton candy, and the thunder is a drum,
And the lightning is a violin that the sky delights to strum.
The umbrellas are all upside down to catch the tasty rain,
And the rabbits are in raincoats, and they sing a sweet refrain.
A caterpillar in a boat sails down the gutter stream,
With a captain's hat of clover, in a slow and drowsy dream.
The children jump in puddles, and they come out changed in size,
One is small as a mushroom, one as tall as summer skies.
When the rain stops, the rainbow is a slide for all to ride,
And Wonderland goes sparkling with its magic far and wide.
